6th Grade Survey

Students in grade 6 will take the Illinois Youth Survey, conducted by the University of Illinois’ Center for Prevention Research and Development.  The purpose of the Illinois Youth Survey is to better understand Illinois youth risk and protective behaviors as they relate to student problems and academic success.

Sixth grade students should have taken a letter home, explaining the purpose and nature of the survey.  Should you wish your child to not participate in this survey, please return the form, signed and completed, to your child’s teacher.  The survey will be administered on March 11th.

A copy of the survey is available for preview in our school office in English and Spanish.

HOOPS FOR HEART EVENT - FEBRUARY 24TH

Students at Elmwood are jumping at the chance to fight heart disease and stroke, our nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers. On February 24th Elmwood will host its 8th annual Hoops/Jump Rope For Heart events to raise money for the American Heart Association, which funds lifesaving heart and stroke research and community and educational programs for our youth.

This year for every $5 a student raises they will receive a raffle ticket to have the chance to throw a pie at one of their principals or teachers. The more money a student raises they will have a better chance of being one of three lucky students to “pie” one lucky principal or teacher from Elmwood. More information will be going home next week to all students with details about our Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart Events. Any questions contact Mr. Uhler or Mrs. Scimeca.
