Today in WHAP: Monday, 1-24-2012

Hello Friends,

Today in WHAP, we began by individually forming 3-5 questions on the material assigned over the weekend.  Next, we formed groups of three to filter out some of the questions.  I then answered any and all questions that the students had.  Next, we took the second quiz of Chapter 20 on Africa during the time of the slave trade.   After the quiz, we grouped up and formed presentations to illustrate the main teachign points from the first half of the Chapter.  We concluded by presenting our findings to the rest of teh class.  For homewrok, each student is to finish reading and outlining the remainder of the Chapter for a quz tomorrow.

Today in WHAP: Tuesday, 12-20-2011

Hello Friends,

Today in WHAP, I began by checking in our 5 questions from the text.  Next, I finished the lecture on the Renaissance and the Reformation.  Following that, we had a discussion on the Scientific Revolution and its impact on Western Civilization today.  Finally, I distributed the review packet for Chapter 17 and allowed the students to pair up and review together.  For homework, each student needs to study for the test on Wednesday (for mod 1) or Thursday (for mod 3).

Today in WHAP: Monday, 12-19-2011

Hello Friends,

 

Today we began the final week of the term.  First, I assigned the fianl quiz make-ups of the semester to those in need, they are due on the day that they take their final (either Wednesday for Mod 1 students for Thursday for Mod 3 students).  NExt, we formed 3-5 questions per person on issues encountered in the chapter.  Next, we grouped up with two other students to reduce and filter out the number of questions.  Next, we opened the floor up for discussions, and I answered any and all questions from the Chapter.  We then took the second quiz on the Chapter.  Next, I issued a set of Chapter notes and led a lecture discussion on the Renaissance.  For homework, the students are to form five additional questions on the Reformation and the Scientific Revolution to be discussed in class.

Today in WHAP: Wednesday, 12-14-2011

Hello Friends,

Today in class, we began by grouping up in an attempt to filter out some of the questions that we generated last night.  Next, I answered any and all questionsfrom Chapter 16.  We then took the Chapter 16 Test.  After the test, We set up our binders for Chapter 17, the Transformation of the West and created a KWL chart to preview Chapter 17.  I then assigned the vocabulary for the Chapter.  Finally, we each picked

 a term to create a visual for to present in class tomorrow.  For homework, each student must have the KWL chart 2/3rd's done, all terms defined, and have their vocabulary presentation ready for tomorrow.

Today in WHAP: Tuesday, 12-7-2011

Hello Friends,
Today in WHAP, we began checking in our homework assignments (vocabulary and outline work).  I then passed back the Compare and Contrast Essay practice.  We then concluded the presentation of our graphic organizers from Chapter 15.  Next, I distributed the review packets for the Chapter, in preparation for tomorrow's Chapter 15 Test.  Lastly, I assigned the homework, (1) to study for the Test and to (2) form 3-5 more questions about the Chapter to be discussed before the Test tomorrow.

Hello Friends,

Today in WHAP, we began by individually forming 3-5 questions on the material from Chapter 15.  I then answered any questions that the students had.  The students then took the Chapter 15.1 Quiz.  After the quiz, we began our graphic organizer presentations from Chapter 15.  Lastly, I assigned the homework  For homework, to form 3-5 more questions about teh Chatper to be discussed tomorrow.   Have Fun!

Today in WHAP: Wednesday, 12-1-2011

Hello Friends,
Today in WHAP, we began by individually forming 3-5 questions on the material from Chapter 14.  I then answered any questions that the students had.  The students then took the Chapter 14 Test.  After the test, I assigned the Vocabulary for Chapter 15.  Lastly, we completed a reading inference exercise using the map of the known world found on page 333.  For homework, I assigned each student a particular term from the Chapter vocabulary list to create a graphic image highlighting the definition of the term as well as defining all of the terms in their binder.

Hello Friends,

Today in WHAP, we began by individually forming 3-5 questions on the material that was to be read and outlined over the weekend.  The students then took the first the quiz.  After the quiz, each group qtheir Vocabulary orgzanizers to the class.  We then took a practice Compare adn Contrast essay in class.  For homework, I assigned each student a particular piortion of the Chapter to create a graphic organizzer highlighting the main poits fo the subsection.

Today in WHAP: Wednesday, 11-23-2011

Hello Friends,  

Today in WHAP, we began by teaming up to ask/bounce off/filter out any unanswered questions from Chapter 13.  I then answered any unanswered questions.  We then took the test on Chapter 13.  We then prepped our binders for the next Chapter (14).  Next, we divided ourselves into three teams and assigned 1/3 of the vocabulary terms from Chapter 14 to each team, to be presented on Monday. I concluded by assigning reading, knowing and outling all of Chaper 14 for homework, in addition to defining ALL of the terms from Chapter 14.  Quiz Monday.
