New Concussion Sign-Off Form For Schools

As a part of the Concussion Bill that was recently signed into law by Governor Quinn, it is now a requirement for every school to have a signed concussion form on file for each student-athlete competing at their school.  EPHS now requires parents and athletes sign and submit a Concussion Information Form in order to participate in athletics.

Tiger Football Booster Club Golf Outing

The Tiger Football Golf Outing was played Saturday, June 30 at Fresh Meadow Golf Course.  Congratulations to Joe Pessetti and his sons for winning the 2011 Event with an impressive -10 under par!  Thank you to all the community sponsors for supporting the event.  Thank you to the Booster Club Kim Kaminski, Lodean Fisher, and Kelly Fisher for their assistance.  Coach Luis Arroyo did another terrific job promoting and organizing the event.  Finally thank you to all the golfers for coming out and supporting the program.  It was a beautiful day all the way around!  Hope to see you again and many more next summer

Summer Coming To A Close

It has been a great summer for Tiger Athletics as large numbers of kids participated in program camps.  The kids and coaches worked hard to prepare for the upcoming seasons.  The IHSA required no contact period begins Monday, August 1 through Tuesday, August 9.  First day of fall practices begin Wednesday, August 10.  In order to participate, athletes are required to;

1. Have a current physical

2. Sign the Parent Permission/Consent Form

3. Pay $55 Athletic Fee

Athletes should check starting times for the first day of practice.  Questions can be directed to the Athletic Office at 708-583-5468.

Susan G. Komen Volley for the Cure vs. Timothy Christian

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 the Elmwood Park Tigers Girls' Volleyball team participated in the IHSA sponsored Susan G. Komen Volley for the Cure.  The girls raised money Monday by participating in a Volley-a-thon.  Tuesday the teams played Timothy Christian.  Each team wore pink t-shirts donated by American Custom.  The money from the gate was all donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help find a cure for breast cancer.  Other sponsors included Connie's Beef, Bacci Pizza, Elmwood Family Restaurant, Spizzico, Senor Jefe, and Wing Stop.  Thank you to all the players, coaches, parents and sponsors and especially Karen Schmidt who organized the event, for participating in a worthwhile event.

HOMECOMING VICTORY!

Friday, October 1, the Elmwood Park Tigers' Varsity Football team defeated Ridgewood in an exciting 23-21 game.  Rosario Camaci kicked a field goal with 1:00 left to put the Tigers ahead.  The defense held on to seal the Homecoming win - EP's first Homecoming victory in more than 10 years.  The win came in front of the biggest crowd of the year as the Booster Club and Alumni Association held a Welcome Tent for returning alumns.  Congratulations to the team and coaches for a terrific effort.  The sophomore and freshmen teams also won making it a clean sweep.

EP Homecoming Community Pep Rally

Last night, Wednesday, Sept. 29 was the EP Community Pep Rally.  The night featured powder puff football games, tug-o-war between football players and coaches, band performances, cheerleader performances and a bon fire.  Thank you to the Student Council Sponsors Mrs. Kristen Carroll and Ms. Elizabeth Laske for planning the evening.  Also thanks to the Booster Club, Mr. Kingsmill and the Varsity Club and the football staff for their participation.  Also, thanks to Caputo's for supplying the wood for the fire and Mr. Gary Schulze for building the Green R for the fire.  It was a terrific night that will continue for future Homecomings.  Spelman Studios took photographs for the rally and will be posted on this site for purchase.

Alec Gomez Qualifies for IHSA State Tourney 3 Point Contest

Congratulations to Alec Gomez for qualifiying to participate in the IHSA State Boy's Basketball Tournament 3 Point Shooting Contest.  Alec made 9 three pointers Friday during the Riverside Brookfield Sectional Tournament to advance.  Alec will shoot Thursday, March 18 in the Peoria Civic Center @ 5:00 pm.  Good luck Alec!

Michelle Tinajero Competes in the IHSA 3 Point Competition

Michelle Tinajero competed in the IHSA Three Point Competition at Illinois State University.  Michelle made four three pointers during Thursday's event.  She qualified as one of the 32 shooters from the Trinity Sectional last week.  Great work Michelle!

Wojo Signs With Bradley University

Elmwood Park High School Senior Boy's Soccer player Wojciech Wojcik, aka "Wojo", signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Bradley University.  Wojo received scholarship offers from a few NCAA Division I programs, but felt most comfortable with Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.  Bradley is a Division I program that plays in the Missouri Valley Conference.  His mother, father, Head Coach Marty Blake, and Assistant Coach Jeff DeGroot attended a signing session in the Elmwood Park High School Principal's Conference Friday, February 19.  Congratulations Wojo

Ivan Stechyshyn Competes in IHSA Swim Sectional

Saturday, February 20, EPHS freshmen student Ivan Stechyshyn competed in the Fenwick High School IHSA Sectional Swim Meet.  Ivan swam the 200m freestyle and the 200m breastroke.  He finished 9th in the breastroke, scoring the first swim points for Elmwood Park High School in more than 30 years.  Congratulations Ivan and great job.
