Art I, 2/5/2010

Today the students finished their leaf exercise from yesterday as well as working on the last two pages in the attached packet.  they then worked on creating a positive and negative space image of their own.

Today the students had their first class critique of their blind contour line drawings.  They also self evaluated on the attached rubric and turned in their compositions.  We then watched a power point on positive and negative space, and completed the "drawing a leafe" exercise in the attached packet.

Today the students finished applying color to their blind contour line drawings.  It is the last day in class to work on this project.

Today the students will discuss establishing movement and direction within their composition.  They will put the finishing touches on their composition with a fine tip marker.  They will also finish replicating the water color painting attached.  If time they may Begin on their final painting.

Today the students will begin expiramenting with water color pencils.  they will watch 2 videos on the vatious techniques.   They will then practice 4 main techniques on a sheet of water color paper.  See the attached image for instructions on how to set up your paper.  The second half of class will be devoted to re-producing a water color landscape.

Art I, 1/29/2010

Today the students finished their blind contour line drawing on watercolor paper.  They outlined their composition with a thin black marker.

When finished the students worked to personalize their sketchbooks with drawings, imagery and magazine clippings.

Art I, 1/28/2010

Today the students continued to practice blind contour portraits, focusing on life size drawing and details.  20 minuits were spent on studio time, or self guided practice and then when ready the students moved onto the final paper for their project.

Daily Drawing: who or what makes you laugh?  Draw it out.

Art I, 1/27/2010

Today the students finished the last of the Blind Contour drawing packet.  We discussed our next project and reviewed the requirements.  We watched a power point on cubism and completed 3 blind contour portraits in our sketchbooks.  Extra credit is due this friday.  Homework is to finish any drawings not yet completed.

Art I, 1/26/2010

Today the students began blind contour line drawings.  There is an extensive packet attached with directions for each page.  The packet is worth 50 points and is due tomorrow.

Daily drawing:  draw a corner of your room, be as detailed and specific as possible.
