By Dr. Kathleen Porreca, Elm Middle School Principal
Welcome to Elm Middle School!
Our school is the home to all the 7th and 8th graders of Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401.
The educational team at Elm is dedicated to the specific developmental needs of middle school students. During their two years at Elm, our students grow academically, physically, emotionally, socially and ethically.
Our staff is here to nurture and support our students through this exciting transition from elementary school to high school.
Our teachers are specially trained to work with young adolescents. You will not find a more student-centered staff anywhere.
Elm teachers work hard every day and are always focused on helping students learn. We want our students to get the most out of their middle school years.
Our schedule, activities, classroom and school routines are designed to make Elm Middle School a caring and challenging school experience, one that is specifically designed to meet the needs of our students.
Elm students achieve great things academically. We track all of our students' learning and growth throughout their two years at Elm. Our students take pride in setting individual goals for achievement and then working hard to accomplish them.
With our behavioral rewards system, known as PBIS (short for "Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports"), we love to celebrate all the positive things our students do throughout the year.
Elm is a learning community that works together. It's a great place to learn and grow!
