Get Ready for a Disney Homecoming Week Starting Sept. 24!

EPHS 2017 Homecoming Court

If you're a Disney fan, you're going to love Elmwood Park High School's 2018 Homecoming Week, which begins Monday, Sept. 24, with Disney as its theme.

Hallway decorating will take place after school on the 24th, and each class will decorate its hallway with one Disney movie in mind.

Every school day will have a separate spirit theme as well. Students and staff are encouraged to dress appropriately!

  • Monday, Sept. 24: Hawaiian Day —
    Wear your Hawaiian gear
  • Tuesday, Sept. 25: Twin Day —
    Match with a friend
  • Wednesday, Sept 26: Class Color Day —
Wear your class color (frosh purple, sophs red, juniors white, seniors blue, staff gray)
  • Thursday, Sept. 27: Character Day —
Dress up like a Disney character
  • Friday, Sept 28: Black & Gold Day —
    Show off your Tiger spirit

The entire week will build toward the EPHS Homecoming Football Game on Friday, Sept. 28, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Scroll down for additional details about the big week. And don't forget: Go, Tigers!

Pep Assembly and Homecoming Football

In conjunction with a shortened class schedule, a pep assembly will be held Friday, Sept. 28, in the main gym. The all-school event will begin at 2:10 p.m. and will contain some new features.

Besides a DJ and performances by the EPHS choir, band and cheerleaders, there will be a tug-of-war tournament. The freshmen and sophomores will battle it out first, with the winner squaring off against the juniors. The winner of that match will face the seniors. The last class standing will then go up against the faculty — all in good fun, of course.

In between breaks in the tug-of-war, senior athletes on each of the school's fall athletic teams will be recognized. The winners of academic and behavior awards will also be highlighted.

The assembly will end with the announcement of the Homecoming Court — plus a dance-off featuring plenty of glow sticks.

Later that night, Homecoming Court members from all four classes will take the field at EPHS Stadium during halftime of the varsity football game.

The gridiron action kicks off at 5 p.m. with the freshman-sophomore contest against Providence, followed by the varsity game against Chicago Longwood at 7 p.m.

Homecoming Dance

The 2018 Homecoming Dance is scheduled to begin 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in the main gym. Doors will open for check-in at 6:30 p.m., and the dance will end at 10 p.m.

Cost of admission is $10 per person.

Students may start buying tickets on Monday, Sept. 24. Tickets will be on sale before school in Room 135 (7:30 to 7:45 a.m.) and during lunch in the cafeteria.

Sales will end with D lunch on Thursday, Sept. 27.
