Here's What You Need to Know About Registration for 2017-18

NOTE: District 401 requires all students to provide proof of residency as part of the mandatory enrollment/registration process. For more information about the District's residency requirement, click here.


It's time to start thinking about registering your child for school. Registration (also called "enrollment") is a two-step process: (1) proof of residency and (2) payment of fees.

Below are the dates that you will be able to register your child in person.

We encourage you to register your child early, so they may start school on Wednesday, Aug. 16. Returning students may register before Monday, July 24 by submitting their residency documents to the District 401 Registrar's Office by email, fax or mail.

All students, whether new or returning, must enroll in District 401 each year. More information about enrollment and fees is available here on the District 401 website.


Student In-Person Registration Dates


► July 24 — Registration at Elmwood Park High School from 1 to 7 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: This is for returning students only.

► July 25 to Aug. 11 — Registration at John Mills from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. daily.

► Aug. 14 — NO REGISTRATION

► Aug. 15 — NO REGISTRATION

► 
Aug. 16 — NO REGISTRATION (First day of school)

► Aug. 17 — Registration opens again


Returning Students


For returning students, registration is already underway. Fill out the required Proof of Residency Form and submit it with all requested supporting documents. Students will be unenrolled if residency has not been approved by the first day of school (Aug. 16).

Although we encourage you to email, fax or mail your documents, there will be walk-in, drop-off enrollment ("open enrollment") for 2017-18 returning students from 1 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Elmwood Park High School. Bring copies of your proofs of residency.

Payment of school fees is due by Sept. 1, 2017. A list of school fees is available here. Families have several payment options:

► Pay online via the D401 webstore with a credit or debit card

► Pay by mail with a check or money order

► Pay in person on July 24, 2017, with cash, credit card, debit card, check or money order

► Pay in installments by mail or online beginning May 1, with payment in full by Sept. 1, 2017

New Students


A prospective John Mills student is considered a "new student" if he or she did not attend a District 401 school the previous school year. New student enrollment begins July 25, 2017. 

As noted above, registration will be held at our school from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. July 25 to Aug. 11. Registration for new students will resume on Aug. 17.

In addition to proof of residency, enrollment requires the payment of school fees. A list of school fees is available here.

If your child is enrolled by the start of the new school year (Aug. 16, 2017), full payment is due by Sept. 1, 2017. 

New students who enter District 401 after the due date will have 30 days to pay all fees after they have enrolled in the District.
