EPHS Students Impress at Triton College Art Competition

Student artists from Elmwood Park High School have impressed judges yet again, winning 17 ribbons in Triton College's 2017 High School Art Competition.

The awards included four ribbons for Myrna Carrillo, whose work in mixed media earned top honors in that category, and blue ribbons for Laura Martin Del Campo and Natalia Perz.

Under the guidance of art teachers Ms. Katie Mussio and Ms. Katie Netti, EPHS students consistently perform well in the Triton contest. This year’s winners are:

Kassandra Arboleda — yellow ribbon in ceramic plate; yellow ribbon in mixed media

Myrna Carrillo — red ribbon in mixed media; yellow ribbon in drawing; yellow ribbon in mixed media; yellow ribbon in painting 

Maggie Connelly — red ribbon in mixed media character doll

Sarah Ihmoud — yellow ribbon in mixed media mosaic

Madlyn Kornatowski — red ribbon in ceramic plate

Laura Martin Del Campo — blue ribbon in ceramic plate

Andriana Melnychuk — yellow ribbon in sculpture, paper quilling

Natalia Perz — blue ribbon in jewelry; red ribbon in mixed media

Lindsey Plasencia — yellow ribbon in drawing

Georgina Quintona — yellow ribbon in mixed media

Jasline Zapata — red ribbon in jewlery; yellow ribbon in mixed media character doll

A public reception for the competition’s artists will be held at the Triton College Fine Arts Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, with a brief awards ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m. All are welcome.

The works will remain on display at the Triton Gallery until Thursday, Feb. 16.
