Board Member Biographies

Mr. Michael Marzullo, President    Elected: April 1999

Mr. Marzullo was elected to the Board of Education in April of 1999, and became Board President in the Fall of 2006.

Angela Stranges, Vice President   Elected: April 2003

Mrs. Stranges is a long time resident of Elmwood Park and has served as a District 401 School Board Member since 2002.  Prior to this, she served on the PZD Commission for the Village and enjoys being involved in the community and schools.  She has two children currently attending school in the district and enjoys volunteering as a room parent and in other school related capacities.
 
Angela has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Arts and Sciences from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois and an Elementary Education Certificate.   She taught in the public school system for 15 years but has chosen to take time off to be at home for her children.  She currently works part-time at home managing a small business.

Susan Capraro, Secretary   Elected: April 2001

Mrs. Capraro has four children that attended the Elmwood Park schools and has been an active parent/volunteer for the district for many years.  She works at the West Suburban Family Practice as a registered nurse and provides tax services as a registered tax practitioner. She has been involved with the Infant Welfare Society and the Elmwood Park Community Theater.

Mary Bruscato  Elected: April 2007

Before serving on the Board, Mrs. Bruscato served District 401 as the Superintendent’s secretary for eight years.  Mary still works in education as the Superintendent’s secretary at Ridgewood High School District 234. 

She is married and has two grown children.  Her son graduated from EPHS in 2003.

Ms. Patricia Cleary

Ms. Cleary was elected to the Board of Education in April of 2005.

Albert J. Fang Jr.   Appointed in 2006 and Elected: April 2007

Mr. Fang is a 40-year resident of Elmwood Park with four children.  He has been a member of the John Mills PTA since 2003, as well as President of the John Mills PTA 2006 through 2007.  He served as a member of the John Mills Improvement Team 2003 and 2004.  Mr. Fang is also an active participant in Community Youth programs.  He has 27 years of experience in business management in the communications industry.

Frank Parisi   Appointed Interim Board Member: 2007

Mr. Parisi is a life long resident of Elmwood Park and a graduate of Elmwood Park High School and Triton College. He was a member of the Elmwood Park Library Board for six years, and has also served within the community as a basketball coach, softball coach, and umpire for T-ball and girls softball. He has been married for over twenty-two years and has four children; two of which are graduates of Elmwood Park High School, and two are currently enrolled in the district’s high school and middle school. He actively serves in his church, and for the past twenty-four years has had a career in color separation/graphic design.

Dr. Douglas Rudig, Superintendent of Schools 

Dr. Rudig was appointed to the position of Superintendent of Schools in the fall of 2006.  His degrees include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus; a Master's Degree in the Science of Teaching from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa; and a Ph.D. in Administration, Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Colorado, Denver.  He has worked in education since 1968, beginning as an instructor of emotionally disturbed children.  In addition, he has serviced as a principal, and a teacher at all grade levels, elementary through high school, and as an adjunct professor at the college level.
