Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401 is governed by a seven-member elected Board of Education. The current members of the District 401 Board of Education are:

A meeting of the District 401 Board of Education's Committee of the Whole will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, at Elmwood Park High School, 8201 W. Fullerton Ave., Elmwood Park. Location details will be provided soon.

Meeting Times & Places
Unless otherwise noted, all Board meetings are held at Elmwood Park High School.*
- Regular meetings take place monthly every third Wednesday, August to June.
- Open sessions of regular meetings start at 7 p.m. in the EPHS auditorium.
- Executive (closed) sessions of regular meetings begin at 6 p.m. in Room 192 at EPHS.
- COW meetings take place monthly every first Wednesday, August to June.
- COW meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in the EPHS auditorium (location subject to change).
- Open sessions of regular meetings are livestreamed and recorded.
- As of the Nov. 3, 2021, meeting, COW meetings will no longer be livestreamed or recorded.
Please note that the locations of 2021-22 Board of Education meetings are subject to change. Any changes will be posted to this page.

The Board's powers and duties include the authority to adopt, enforce and monitor all policies for the management and governance of District 401's schools.

Official action by the Board may only occur at a duly called and legally conducted meeting at which a quorum is physically present. See Section
As stated in the Board member oath of office prescribed by the Illinois School Code, a Board member has no legal authority as an individual.
The District 401 Board of Education meets regularly once a month during the school year from August to June.
Regular meetings typically occur on the third Wednesday of each month. Unless otherwise noted, the public portion of each regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Elmwood Park High School. Executive sessions begin at 6 p.m. in Room 192 at EPHS and are closed to the public.
Meetings of the Board's Committee of the Whole (COW) start at 6:30 p.m. and are held in the auditorium of Elmwood Park High School, unless otherwise noted. COW meetings typically take place on the first Wednesday of each month from August to June.
Meeting notices, agendas and minutes are publicized as required by Illinois law and District 401 policy. Please note that a COW meeting may sometimes be changed to a "Special Board Meeting."
