Required Training
Illinois school board members must complete mandatory training in a number of subject areas as required by the following statutes:
- Open Meetings Act (OMA) | 5 ILCS 120/1.05
Training in the general applicability, procedures and legal requirements of the Open Meetings Act (OMA). - Professional Development Leadership Training (PDLT) | 105 ILCS 5/10-16a
A minimum of four hours of Professional Development Leadership Training (PDLT), including education and labor law, fiduciary responsibilities, financial oversight and accountability. - Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) | 105 ILCS 5/24-16.5
A training program on Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) evaluations.
Pursuant to these statutes, District 401's website provides the names of all voting members of the school board who have successfully completed the training. Please see the table below.

Other Required Training
In addition, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Leah Gauthier has been designated by the Board to receive training in compliance with the Open Meetings Act (OMA), as required by Section 1.05(a) of that act.
Dr. Gauthier, who also serves as District 401's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) officer, completes all required OMA and FOIA training each year.
