Required Training


Illinois school board members must complete mandatory training in a number of subject areas as required by the following statutes:

For new board members:

  • The Basics of Governance
  • Open Meetings Act (OMA)
  • Professional Development Leadership Training (PDLT) and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members, including state-mandated training on trauma-informed practices (new in 2023)

Pursuant to these statutes, District 401's website provides the names of all voting members of the school board who have successfully completed the training. Please see the table below.

Other Required Training


In addition, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Leah Gauthier has been designated by the Board to receive training in compliance with the Open Meetings Act (OMA), as required by Section 1.05(a) of that act.

Dr. Gauthier, who also serves as District 401's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) officer, completes all required OMA and FOIA training each year.
