Preschool Enrollment

Enrollment in preschool for the 2023-24 school year is open to Elmwood Park children who will be at least 3 years old during the school year and no more than 5 years old as of Sept. 1, 2024.

John Mills is the only District 401 school that offers preschool instruction. All preschool programs are half day, with some students attending in the morning and others in the afternoon. Students must be Elmwood Park residents.

How to Enroll in Preschool for 2023-24

All District 401 students, whether new or returning, must enroll in the District each school year. The enrollment process is also known as "registration." This process involves:

  • Proof of residency
  • Payment of school fees
  • Submission of consent forms

Registering for 2023-24 will be done entirely online in PowerSchool, where all necessary forms will be found. All school fees will be paid online as well, using the MySchoolBucks system.

The specific procedure that you'll follow when enrolling your student for 2023-24 will depend on whether your student is new or returning. Keep reading to see which category fits your student.

If Your Student Is "New"

A student is "new" if he or she did not attend a District 401 school the previous school year. For the purposes of 2023-24 enrollment, this means a student is considered "new" if he or she was not enrolled as a District 401 student during 2022-23.

If your student fits this definition, please visit the following page for instructions of how to complete their registration as a new student:

If Your Student Is "Returning"

A student is "returning" if he or she did attend a District 401 school during the previous school year. For the purposes of 2023-24 enrollment, a student is considered "returning" if he or she was enrolled as a District 401 student during 2022-23.

If your student fits this definition, please visit the following page for instructions of how to complete their registration as a returning student:

  • Pre-Kindergarten (monthly payments available) — $3,000

All fees will be paid via MySchoolBucks, which is District 401's school fees payment system.
