Acceptable Use Policy

To provide students with an interactive, technology-rich learning environment, District 401 has been training its faculty and staff in the use of G Suite for Education as part of the District Technology Initiative.

D401 students now have the ability to access the applications and features associated with G Suite, such as Google Drive, Calendar, Docs, Slides and so on.

Students in grades 3-12 also have access to Gmail. This is a closed system, meaning students can only communicate with other individuals who have access to the same "" Gmail account. This way they cannot receive or send messages outside of the D401 system.

What This Means for Students

Safety is a primary concern of ours as we expand the role of technology in the classroom.

As a result, the District's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) has been updated to appropriately reflect what students will be exposed to and what they are expected to use as D401 moves forward with its Technology Initiative.

In order for students to continue pursuing these opportunities, they and their parents/guardians must sign and return the updated AUP at the start of each school year.

The Road Ahead

The updated AUP is just one step in a larger plan to incorporate technology into our classrooms and provide a more blended learning environment for all students.

District 401 is pleased with the excitement teachers have in wanting Elmwood Park students to experience the benefits of a blended classroom and providing further differentiation into their learning experience.
