At a Glance | ECC

The Early Childhood Center educates some 229 students in preschool and kindergarten as part of Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401.

Located in Elmwood Park, Ill., a Near West suburb of Chicago, the ECC is District 401's only school devoted to pre-K and K instruction.

Our Programs

The ECC focuses on enhancing the total growth of the child by fostering independence, encouraging social skills and developing a curiosity for learning.

Our preschool program provides a half-day of instruction and growth activities five days a week to 3- and 4-year-old students. Class size is limited to 18 students, one teacher and one aide.

Our kindergarten program provides instruction five days a week to children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Most classes are half a day; one is full day. The curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards, which include language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
