Students and their families had a great first day of school at the Early Childhood Center as the 2019-20 academic year got under way on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Parents were able to join their children during the first hour of the morning and afternoon sessions as students jumped right into their classroom activities.
The beginning of the new school year also marked the start of a transition period for the "Flagship," as the ECC's principal, Mr. Kevin Seibel, likes to call the school.
That's because 2019-20 will be the school's final year as a separate entity within District 401.
Beginning next year, kindergarten and pre-K students will be accommodated within the District's elementary schools.
In the meantime, Mr. Seibel said he and the ECC faculty are committed to making this final year a memorable one for their students.
"We are so excited to have you all as part of our learning community," said Mr. Seibel in his welcome message to parents, which was published in the first issue of the 2019-20 ECC school newsletter.
"Parents, we would like your active participation in all we do during our learning day, and hope you will take advantage of joining our Twitter feed for
insights into classroom actions and learning. I hope you were able to join your child for the first hour of our first school day. Our learning journey is underway!"
