Starting in August 2020, both Elm Middle School and Elmwood Park High School changed from a block schedule to a seven-period schedule.
This change gives students at both schools more options to take electives and career-oriented classes as part of the District's College & Career Pathways program.
For Elm, each school day begins at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 3:05 p.m.

About the Seven-Period Bell Schedule
- Lunch is incorporated within one of the subsections in Period 4 — that is, 4A, 4B, 4C.
- Advisory is meant to provide an opportunity for staff to ensure students have their lanyards and Chromebooks.
- Four of the seven periods will be for core content areas, two for expanded exploratory options and one for a self-study.
- The self-study is meant to provide an opportunity for students to utilize as a study hall and receive academic and/or social-emotional supports. If students wish to participate in another exploratory option during this time, they can.
