Starting in August 2020, both Elm Middle School and Elmwood Park High School will change from their current block schedules to a traditional seven-period schedule.

This will give students more options to take electives and career study classes as part of the District's new College and Career Pathways program.

For Elm, each school day will begin at 7:55 a.m. and end at 3:05 p.m.

Notes on the New Schedule

  • Lunch is incorporated within one of the subsections in Period 4 — that is, 4A, 4B, 4C.
  • Advisory is meant to provide an opportunity for staff to ensure students have their lanyards and Chromebooks.
  • Four of the seven periods will be for core content areas, two for expanded exploratory options and one for a self-study.
  • The self-study is meant to provide an opportunity for students to utilize as a study hall and receive academic and/or social-emotional supports. If students wish to participate in another exploratory option during this time, they can.
