Courses
MATHEMATICS 6 |
Grade Level: 6 |
Connected Mathematics 3, or CMP3, is an inquiry-based mathematics program for grades 6-8 and is fully aligned with Common Core Standards. It helps students on math problem-solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation and connections. These math practices require students to look deeper and connect problem-solving to practical situations. Students in 6th grade focus on factor and multiples, rational numbers, fraction operations, two-dimensional measurement, decimal and percent operations, an introduction to algebra and data analysis.
Please note that opportunities to take Accelerated Mathematics 6 are available for students who qualify based on predetermined criteria relating to current academic achievement. Criteria include common assessments, standardized assessments, trimester grades, student behaviors and teacher recommendations.
MATHEMATICS 7 |
Grade Level: 7 |
Connected Mathematics 3, or CMP3, is an inquiry-based mathematics program for grades 6-8 and is fully aligned with Common Core Standards. It helps students on math problem-solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation and connections. These math practices require students to look deeper and connect problem-solving to practical situations. Students in 7th grade focus on two-dimensional geometry, integer operations, similarity, ratio and proportion, linear relationships, probability, three-dimensional measurement and data analysis.
Please note that opportunities to take Accelerated Mathematics 7 are available for students who qualify based on predetermined criteria relating to current academic achievement. Criteria include common assessments, standardized assessments, trimester grades, student behaviors and teacher recommendations.
MATHEMATICS 8 |
Grade Level: 8 |
Connected Mathematics 3, or CMP3, is an inquiry-based mathematics program for grades 6-8 and is fully aligned with Common Core Standards. It helps students on math problem-solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation and connections. These math practices require students to look deeper and connect problem-solving to practical situations. Students in 8th grade focus on linear functions and inverse variation, Pythagorean Theorem, exponential functions, transformations, quadratic functions and systems of equations.
CORE-PLUS MATHEMATICS I |
Grade Level: 8 |
The first course in the Core-Plus series covers topics regarding patterns in data, patterns of change, linear models, graph models, patterns in space and visualization, exponential models and simulation models.
Students are selected for Core-Plus Mathematics I based on predetermined criteria relating to current academic achievement. Criteria include common assessments, standardized assessments, trimester grades, student behaviors and teacher recommendations.
