Physical Education & Health

Students are required to take physical education (PE) and health throughout their two years at Elm Middle School.

PE and health classes alternate every other day with electives. Each quarter, our students take PE for six weeks and health for three.

Our curriculum in both subjects is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Physical Development and Health.

PE classes focus on building fitness skills for lifetime health. Our teachers use sports, games and other activities to show students how to achieve and maintain physical fitness.

Health classes explore topics such as systems of the body, healthy decisions, disease and disease prevention.
