Field trips are part of Elm Middle School's curriculum, and all students are required to attend.
At the start of each school year the Elm administration provides parents with a list of planned trips, along with the total cost for each student.
Parents are expected to pay the cost for each of their children. The school offers a payment plan to assist with costs.
In recent years, field trips have included a visit to Chicago’s Navy Pier to watch an IMAX film, curriculum-based tours of Chicago landmarks, a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry, an outing to Drury Lane Theatre to watch a performance of “A Christmas Carol” and a visit to the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
To participate in field trips, students must provide the school with a signed permission form.
