POSTSEASON | Conference Championship Meet Results
Although neither the 6th-grade nor 7th/8th-grade boys teams trophied in the LNAC Invite for placing in the top three in their respective divisions, Jacob Waz earned a medal for placing 10th individually among 6th-grade runners. Congratulations, Jacob, and great job by both teams this season!
REGULAR SEASON | Meet Results
Congratulations to the boys cross country team! The following runners were the top three finishers for Elm: Tyson Ruggles, 2nd place; Jacob Waz, 13th place; Patrick Loughnane, 32nd place. The team will compete for overall conference honors Oct. 3 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference Invite at Grant Park in Northlake.

Tyson Ruggles and Sarah Scheidt led the way for the Cougars in this mini-meet vs. Union Ridge. The boys and girls teams from both schools ran together on the Elmwood Park High School course. The first full conference meet is Sept. 20 at Grant Park in Northlake.
POSTSEASON | Conference Championship Meet Results
The Elm girls won two team trophies at the LNAC Invite, which determined the final conference standings for 2022: 1st place for 7th/8th grade and 2nd place for 6th grade. Five Elm girls who won medals for placing in the top 10 in their respective divisions: Natalie Kopacz, 3rd place, 6th grade; Nella Iversen, 4th place, 7th/8th grade; Valeria Oliva, 5th place, 7th/8th grade; Sarah Scheidt, 6th place, 7th/8th grade: Sonia Iversen, 10th place, 7th/8th grade. Congratulations, Cougars!

Congratulations to the girls cross country team! The following runners were the top three finishers for Elm: Sarah Scheidt, 1st place; Nella Iversen, 4th place; Sonia Iversen, 5th place. REGULAR SEASON | Results
Elm defeated Lincoln 6-0. The Cougars ended their season with a 7-2 record. Elm finished third in the LNAC Gold Division, behind Mannheim (9-0) and Giles (8-1). Because only the top two teams in the LNAC Gold and Blue divisions advance to the playoffs, Elm's season is now over. Congrats on a great regular season record, Cougars!

Elm beat Rhodes 9-0 in an away game; the Cougars are now 3-0 on the season. Due to tiebreakers, the team is in 3rd place in the LNAC Gold Division; the top two finishers in each division advance to the conference playoffs at the end of the regular season.
Elm beat Union Ridge 9-0 under rainy conditions. The Cougars are now 2-0 on the season. Due to tiebreakers, the team is in 3rd place in the LNAC Gold Division. This is important because only the top two teams in each LNAC division advance to the conference playoffs.
Elm defeated Pennoyer 3-2, with goals by Enrique Espitia, Omar Atagua and Gerardo Velazquez. The Cougars are 1-0 on the season.
POSTSEASON | Playoff Results
The Cougars lost to top-seeded Mannheim 17-5 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference title game at Rosemont Stadium. Elm finished the 2022 season as LNAC runner-up, with an overall record of 8-3 (2-1 in the playoffs, 6-2 in the regular season). Congratulations, Cougars!
No. 3 Elm defeated No. 2 Rosemont 4-1 in their semifinal matchup. Elm (8-2) will take on No. 1 Mannheim (10-0) for the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference championship 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rosemont Stadium.
No. 3 Elm beat No. 6 Hester 10-9 in the quarterfinals of the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference playoffs. Elm faces No. 2 Rosemont on Tuesday in a semifinal matchup at Rosemont Stadium.
REGULAR SEASON | Results
Elm defeated River Grove to finish the regular season 6-2. The Cougars will go into the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference playoffs as the No. 3 seed. The postseason tournament begins Monday, Sept. 26. The Cougars will host their quarterfinal game, which will take place at Elmwood Park High School.
Elm defeated Rhodes; the Cougars are now 5-2 on the season. Third baseman Jeremy Munoz was player of the game, going 4 for 4 with 2 HRs & 5 RBIs. The regular season ends today at River Grove. The Cougars are third in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference standings.
Elm lost to visiting Mannheim 10-1; the Cougars are now 4-2 on the season.
Elm went on the road and lost a close one to undefeated Rosemont 5-3; the Cougars are now 4-1 on the season.
Elm defeated Union Ridge 20-9; the Cougars are now 4-0 on the season.
Elm defeated Giles 7-5; the Cougars are now 3-0 on the season.
Elm defeated Hester 19-0; the Cougars are now 2-0 on the season.

The Cougars lost to top-seeded Union Ridge 11-5 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference title game at Rosemont Stadium. Elm finished the 2022 season as LNAC runner-up, with an overall record of 9-3 (2-1 in the playoffs, 7-2 in the regular season). Congratulations, Cougars!
No. 3 Elm beat No. 2 Lincoln 8-7 in their semifinal matchup. The Cougars, now 9-2, were led by 8th graders Ella Vargas (2 singles, 2 RBIs) and Tessa LaRocco (4 sb, 2 runs scored, clutch 5th inning hit and RBI). Elm will play No. 1 Union Ridge (10-0-1) in the LNAC title game 4 p.m. Wednesday at Rosemont Stadium.
No. 3 Elm beat No. 6 Hester 11-1 in the quarterfinals of the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference playoffs. Ayanna Bourn had a base hit and 3 RBIs; Isabel Hall homered and drove in 2 runs; Madison Murphy laid down a bunt single; Serena Braglia hit a triple; and Hailey Smith-Young went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBIs. The Cougars will play No. 2 Lincoln School in the semifinals Tuesday at North Park in Franklin Park.
REGULAR SEASON | Results
Elm lost to Mannheim 6-5 in the bottom of the 6th inning in the final game of the regular season. The Cougars are 7-2 and third in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference standings. The No. 3 Cougars will host No. 6 Hester in the playoff quarterfinals Monday.
Elm defeated River Grove 6-4; the Cougars are now 7-1 on the season. Sixth grader Hailey Smith-Young pitched a complete-game 1 hitter, striking out a dozen batters. The team is currently in second place in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference.
Elm defeated Rhodes 15-2; the Cougars are now 6-1 on the season. Hailey Smith-Young pitched 5 innings, giving up 1 hit & 2 earned runs. Leah Alvarado (.642 average) provided plenty of spark on offense, while Isabel Hall came up big in the field. The Cougars are second in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference standings.
Elm was leading 3-1 when game was stopped due to rain. Big hits by Hailey Smith-Young (hr) and Ella Vargas (3b). Game will continue on Sept. 23.
Elm defeated Pennoyer 14-0 on a combined no-hitter by three pitchers ((7th grader Leah Alvarado, 6th grader Hailey Smith-Young & 7th grader Ava Losurdo). Players of the game were Ava Losurdo, who pitched two no-hit shutout innings while going 4-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs, and 8th grader Serena Braglia, who hit a 3-run homer. The Cougars are now 5-1 on the season.
Elm defeated Giles 8-4; the Cougars are now 4-1 on the season. Leah Alvarado was player of the game. The 7th grader pitched 3 innings and recorded 5 strikeouts.
Elm defeated Rosemont 16-4; the Cougars are now 3-1 on the season. The offense was a group effort, led by outfielder Serena Braglia, catcher Leah Alvarado and pitcher Hailey Smith-Young. The player of the game was lefty slapper Emma Hall, who put down a one-handed bunt.
This game was stopped in the second inning due to an injury to the umpire; it will be replayed on Sept. 14.
Elm defeated Hester 12-1; the Cougars are now 2-0 on the season. Player of the game was Hailey Smith-Young. The 6th grader pitched three innings, recording nine strikeouts and giving up just two hits. On offense she hit a triple and a double, walked once and drove in four runs!
Elm defeated Lincoln 9-6; the Cougars are 1-0 on the season. Player of the game was Tessa LaRocco. The 8th grader homered once, and on defense she recorded one putout and two assists.
POSTSEASON | Playoff Results
No. 3 Elm defeated No. 4 Giles in the LNAC third-place varsity match at Hester School in Franklin Park. The Cougars finished 8-4 overall, going 6-3 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs. Great job, Cougars!
No. 3 Elm lost to No. 2 Mannheim in the varsity semifinals at Hester School. Elm will face No. 4 Giles in the 3rd-place match at Hester on Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.
No. 3 Elm defeated No. 6 River Grove in the varsity quarterfinals. Elm will face No. 2 Mannheim in the semifinals at Hester on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
REGULAR SEASON | Results
Elm varsity lost to Mannheim and finished with a regular-season record of 6-3. The varsity Cougars placed third in the conference standings and will enter next week's eight-team playoffs seeded No. 3. Elm JV, meanwhile, defeated the previously unbeaten Mannheim JV to finish 3-6 on the season. The JV Cougars placed ninth in the conference, just missing a spot in the playoffs.
Elm varsity defeated Lincoln; the Cougars are now 6-2. Elm JV lost to Lincoln, dropping their record to 2-6. The Cougar varsity is in third place overall in the LNAC standings, behind Union Ridge (8-0) and Mannheim (7-1).
Elm varsity and JV both lost to Rosemont. The varsity record is now 5-2, while the JV is 2-5. The Cougar varsity is in third place overall in the LNAC standings, behind Giles (6-1) and Union Ridge (5-0).
Elm varsity lost to Union Ridge, ending the Cougars' season-opening five-game winning streak; the varsity record is now 5-1. The JV Cougars beat Union Ridge, picking up their second win of the season. The JV record is now 2-4.
Elm varsity (5-0) beat previously undefeated Giles to maintain a perfect record; the JV Cougars lost to Giles and are now 1-4 on the season.
Elm varsity beat Hester to remain undefeated; the JV also defeated Hester, winning their first match of the season. The varsity are now 4-0 and the JV 1-3.

No. 3 Elm lost to No. 1 Union Ridge in the 3rd-place game of the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament, hosted by Union Ridge. The varsity Cougars finished the season 8-3 overall (7-1 regular season, 1-2 conference tournament). Congratulations on a great season, Cougars!
No. 3 Elm lost to No. 2 Hester the LNAC varsity semifinals at Union Ridge School. Elm will now play No. 1 Union Ridge in the 3rd-place game at 5:15 p.m., also at Union Ridge School. Union Ridge lost to No. 4 Lincoln in the other semifinal matchup.
No. 3 Elm defeated No. 6 River Grove 20-19. The Cougars will play the winner No. 2 Hester in the LNAC varsity semifinals 7:45 p.m. March 15 at Union Ridge School.
No. 7 Elm lost to No. 2 Rhodes to end the season 3-6 overall. The JV Cougars finished 3-5 in regular-season play and 0-1 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference playoffs. One of the highlights of the Cougar season came Feb. 21, when the JV defeated previously unbeaten River Grove. Congrats to Coach Geraghty and the entire JV squad. REGULAR SEASON | Results
Elm varsity beat Mannheim to finish the regular season 7-1. With the win the Cougars ended up in a three-way tie for first place in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference. Tie-breaking procedures determined that the Cougars would be seeded No. 3 in the upcoming LNAC varsity tournament. The Elm JV, meanwhile, fell to their Mannheim counterparts to finish with 3-5 regular season record. Elm will be seeded No. 7 in the LNAC JV tournament.
Elm varsity raised its record to 6-1 with a victory over Rhodes, while the JV Cougars fell to 3-4 with a loss to their Rhodes counterparts.
Elm varsity beat Union Ridge, the last remaining undefeated team in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference. The Cougars, now 5-1 on the season, won the home game 21-19. The Elm JV lost, falling to 3-3.
Elm varsity's undefeated streak ended as the Cougars fell to Hester, dropping their record to 4-1. On the JV side, the Cougars prevailed over their Hester counterparts and are now 3-2.

Elm varsity and JV both defeated Giles to begin the season. The Cougar varsity and JV are each 1-0 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference.
POSTSEASON | Invitational Meet
The Elm varsity won first place in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference Scholastic Bowl Invitational! Every Elm varsity team member received a first-place medal. AJ Hernandez won the Most Questions Answered award. The Cougars completed their first-ever undefeated season, going 8-0 to win the regular-season conference title and then going undefeated to win the postseason invitational. Elm has never brought home the Scholastic Bowl conference championship plaque and the invitational 1st-place trophy in the same year. Previous Elm teams have taken one or the other, but never both. Congratulations on making school history, varsity Cougars! Elm will once again go the Scholastic Bowl national tournament! The Cougars will be competing May 13. The tournament will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont. All members of the Elm team, both varsity and junior varsity, are eligible to compete.
