Boys Cross Country

The Elm Middle School boys cross country program features a single team that incorporates 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Practice begins in August, followed by a season that lasts from early September to early October.

The season culminates in a title meet that determines the champion of the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference (LNAC). In that meet, 6th graders run as a team against other 6th graders, and 7th/8th graders run as a team against other 7th/8th graders. Fall 2021 is the first season in which Elm will have a 6th-grade team in the conference meet.

In 2019, the Cougars placed second among 7th/8th-grade boys; the year before they took home the third-place trophy. They finished as runners-up in 2017 and champions in 2016.

Students from all three of our grade levels are eligible to try out. Prospective team members must submit a completed pre-participation physical exam form and a signed concussion information sheet if they want to play a fall sport.

Meet Information

Meets generally begin at 4 p.m., and they consist of separate races for the conference's girls and boys teams, with girls competing first.

Eight LNAC schools are competing in cross country in 2021: Elm, Giles, Hester, Lincoln, Mannheim, Pennoyer, Rhodes, Rosemont and Union Ridge.

Unless otherwise noted, meets take place at Grant Park, 44 W. Golfview Drive, Northlake.

Congratulations to the boys cross country team! The following runners were the top three finishers for Elm: Tyson Ruggles, 2nd place; Jacob Waz, 13th place; Patrick Loughnane, 32nd place. The team will compete for overall conference honors Oct. 3 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference Invite at Grant Park in Northlake.
