Girls Cross Country
The Elm Middle School girls cross country program features a single team that incorporates 7th and 8th graders. Practice begins in August, followed by a season that lasts from early September to early October.
The season culminates in a title meet that determines the champion of the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference (LNAC). In 2018, the Cougars won the conference championship. They finished as runners-up in both 2017 and 2016.
Students must submit a completed pre-participation physical exam form and a signed concussion information sheet if they want to play a fall sport.
Ms. Meg Walsh is head coach.
Meet Information
Meets generally begin at 4 p.m., and they consist of separate races for the conference's girls and boys teams, with girls competing first.
In 2019, nine LNAC schools will be competing in cross country: Elm, Giles, Hester, Lincoln, Mannheim, Pennoyer, Rhodes, Rosemont and Union Ridge.
Unless otherwise noted, conference meets take place at Grant Park, 44 W. Golfview Drive, Northlake.
In addition, a mini meet involving Elm, Pennoyer and Union Ridge will be held Sept. 10 at Elmwood Park High School.
