To Report an Absence
Each day a student is absent from school, the absence must be reported to the EPHS attendance clerk. To do this, parents/guardians have two options:
- OPTION 1 — Contact the attendance clerk by phone or email.
- OPTION 2 (new) — Submit an absence form via PowerSchool's parent portal or app.
Please scroll down for information about each option.
► OPTION 1: PHONE OR EMAIL
To report an absence by phone or email:
- If calling, use the attendance voicemail at 708-583-6400 before 9 a.m. on the day of the absence.
- If emailing, use ephsattendance@epcusd401.org before 9 a.m. on the day of the absence.
Parents/guardians should leave the following information:
- Student name and year in school (please spell your child's last name).
- Student ID number.
- Date of absence.
- Reason for absence, and the name and daytime phone number of the parent.
► OPTION 2: POWERSCHOOL
To report an absence via PowerSchool's parent portal or app, follow the directions in this video:
As noted above, a parent or legal guardian is required to contact the EPHS attendance clerk every day the student is absent from school. If the contact is not received before 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, the absence will be considered unexcused.
Chain of Command
When questions, concerns or interests regarding your child's progress or school program arise, please address them promptly by contacting the classroom teacher. Use this directory to look up the EPHS teacher you need to contact.
If questions or concerns remain, it is appropriate that you then contact the building principal or assistant principal.
In the event that there are remaining or unresolved questions or concerns, feel free to contact Superintendent of Schools Dr. Leah Gauthier.
For additional information, the District-level organizational chart is available here.
Remember, always contact the teacher first!
When Visiting EPHS
If you intend to visit the main office, please be aware that visitors to EPHS during school hours must sign in and out at the security desk and obtain a visitor's badge. A valid form of identification is required.
School-age visitors are not permitted during school hours. Advance appointments are recommended to see any staff.
All visitors must observe District 401's policy and rules governing conduct on school property, which can be found in Section 8:30 of the Board of Education's Policy Manual.
