2019-20 Program of Studies

Each year, usually in January, Elmwood Park High School publishes a Program of Studies for the next school year.

Unlike the Student Handbook, which covers all aspects of EPHS operations, rules and procedures, the Program of Studies focuses on academics. Specifically, it explains the school's graduation requirements, grading system and course selection process, and it describes the courses that will be taught in the forthcoming year.

What's New: College & Career Pathways

As you consult the Program of Studies, please note that new classes that will be offered in 2019-20 and 2020-21. A full listing of these classes can be found on page 14: "EPHS Course Listing Guide (by Department)."

The new courses are part of District 401's College & Career Pathways initiative, which will involve changes at both the high school and middle school levels.

The goal of the College & Career Pathway is to better prepare D401 students to compete and succeed in the global economy.

With the help of aligned programs of study and pathway exploration, students will graduate with well-developed post-secondary plans, stronger experiential learning opportunities and a diverse set of skills suited for academic and career success.

For more information about this initiative, please see pages 12-13 of the Program of Studies: "New EPHS College & Career Course Pathways" and "College & Career Pathway Development."
