SEPT. 27 UPDATE: The Homecoming Game between EPHS and Westmont has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, due to severe weather.

The halls of Elmwood Park High School were filled Monday, Sept. 23, with students dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate 'Merica Day, the first of five spirit days that will mark Homecoming Week 2019.

This year's event will run through Saturday, Sept. 28, when the annual Homecoming Dance will conclude the festivities.

The overall theme is "Decades," reflected in the hallway decorations that went up after school on the 23rd.

Every school day will have a separate theme as well. Students and staff are encouraged to get into the spirit of things with the following attire:

  • Monday, Sept. 23: 'Merica Day — Wear red, white and blue.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 24: Country Day — Show off your cowboy boots and flannels.
  • Wednesday, Sept 25: VSCO Girl / Frat Boy Day — Show off your scrunchies and frat boy look.
  • Thursday, Sept. 26: Decades Day — Wear some throwback clothes.
  • Friday, Sept 27: Class Color Day — Wear your class color (seniors white, juniors red, sophs purple, frosh blue, staff gray)

The entire week will build toward the EPHS Homecoming Football Game on the 27th and the Homecoming Dance on the 28th.

The Run-Up to Homecoming Football

To get things rolling, the juniors and seniors will compete in the annual Powder Puff game Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. on the EPHS football field. Come on out and support a fun Homecoming Week tradition!

On Friday the 27th, in conjunction with a shortened class schedule, a pep assembly will be held in the main gym. The all-school event will begin at 1:35 p.m. and will include the announcement of the Homecoming Court.

Later that night, Homecoming Court members from all four classes will take the field at EPHS Stadium during halftime of the varsity football game.

The gridiron action kicks off at 6 p.m. with the host Tigers taking on the Westmont Sentinels.

Homecoming Dance

The 2019 Homecoming Dance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday the 28th in the main gym and will conclude at 10 p.m. The theme is "Dancing Through the Decades."

Tickets will be on sale during Homecoming Week before and after school in Room 223 and during lunch on Friday in front of the cafeteria.

Students who plan to bring any non-EPHS guests to the Homecoming Dance must have the guests approved from their current school before being allowed to purchase tickets for them.

If students have any questions about procedures for buying tickets, they should contact the Deans' Office.
