"It's a way of saying you’re among the best musicians in the state," said EPHS music teacher and choir director Mr. Grant McEachern of the ILMEA honors.
"When a student is selected and nominated by a teacher or when they audition and make it, in both cases it's a sign that you’re among the best musicians and that you have the confidence of your director to represent your school.”
To be selected for Senior Chorus, Julia had to submit an audition tape featuring her singing several numbers a cappella style. The audition tape also included her singing scales to demonstrate her vocal range and her understanding of music theory.
To be selected for 9/10 Honor Choir, the other EPHS students had to be nominated by their choir director, Mr. McEachern.
All six students will perform in their respective ILMEA District 1 choral groups on Nov. 20 in Elmhurst.
The 9/10 Honor Choir will perform at York High School beginning at noon.
The Senior Chorus will perform in Elmhurst University’s Faganel Hall beginning at 1:45 p.m. and will be conducted by Kimberly Dunn Adams of Western Michigan University.
Congratulations again to all!
