A more detailed breakdown can be found below. This schedule is followed daily except on early release days.

John Mills Elementary School | Regular Hours

Early Release Days

Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, District 401's schedule will no longer include late-start Wednesdays for professional development. Instead, six early release days will be used for staff development during the school year.

On early release days, students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m., with staff remaining for lunch and then professional development opportunities. Those days are:

► Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 | Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
► Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 | Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
► Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 | Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
► Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 | Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
► Friday, March 20, 2020 | Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
► Thursday, April 9, 2020 | Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.

During the rest of the school year, John Mills will observe its regular hours as listed above.

No Early Arrivals Unless Scheduled

In the interest of safety, it is important that students not arrive at John Mills before 8:20 a.m. each day. There is no outside supervision until those times.

Meetings for student activities and opportunities for individual help are sometimes scheduled to take place before the school day begins. Students who arrive before school for a scheduled purpose must sign in at the office and then proceed to their teacher's classroom.

Prompt Pick-Ups After School

All children must be picked up at 3 p.m. unless they are staying after school with parental permission. No siblings are allowed at after-school activities, and they must be picked up at the regular time.

Parents are expected to make other arrangements if they are unable to pick up their children on time. Students who are not picked up at 3 p.m. may be sent to our after-school program at a cost to the parent.
