Re: Road to Renewal
Today we wrap up our third week of full-day learning. With detailed planning and a close watch on updated guidance we were able to offer five days of full-day learning for our PK-5 students and two days of full-day learning for our 6-12 students. To think back to where we were a year ago reminds me of just how far we have come.
We are currently planning for the 2021-22 school year and what we can offer as a school district that allows for a safe in-person return for all of our students. We are following the ever-changing guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to help us successfully create our plan.
In the upcoming months we will share our plan with as much detail as possible, knowing that things may have to change based on the safety information we are given. We are hopeful with the resources we are set to receive that this upcoming school year can operate more like a school year in a pre-pandemic environment but with the addition of our safety expectations.
The Federal Government has released one-time funding grants to support us with making our buildings conducive to learning in a pandemic.
In order to best plan on how to utilize the one-time funds, we are focusing on four big-picture priorities that will target how we effectively keep our schools open and successful as we live through a pandemic. They are:
- Social Emotional Learning
- Health and Safety
- Capital Improvements
I will provide updates on our planning process as we build our Road to Renewal for next year and beyond. Thank you for your patience and perseverance as we continue moving forward.
As always, updated information is located on our website's Learning Update Center page.
