Schools

Our schools provide a comprehensive, standards-based public education to more than 2,800 students in pre-kindergarten (PK) through 12th grade:

► John Mills Elementary School | Grades PK-5
► Elmwood Elementary School | Grades K-5
► Elm Middle School | Grades 6-8
► Elmwood Park High School | Grades 9-12

District 401 serves the residents of Elmwood Park, Ill., a Near West suburb of Chicago with a population of about 25,000. All students must be residents of Elmwood Park.

Please note that one of our former schools, the Early Childhood Center, closed permanently effective July 1, 2020. With the ECC's closing, District 401 kindergarten students attend one of our two elementary schools: Elmwood (for residents living south of the railroad tracks) or John Mills (for residents north of the tracks). All preschool students in District 401 attend John Mills.

In addition, Elmwood and John Mills no longer include 6th graders. All 6th graders in District 401 attend Elm Middle School, which now consists of grades 6-8.

For more information about each of our four schools, please see below.
