District 401's summer athletic camps for elementary-aged and middle school-aged students have been canceled for 2020.

The District's high school athletic camps are on hold pending approval of revised state guidelines for return to play.

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) submitted procedures for Stage 2 Return to Play to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on Friday, June 19.

Stage 2 procedures were guidelines to safely conduct summer camps, open gyms and possible interscholastic scrimmages during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those guidelines were not approved by the IDPH.

The IHSA was instructed to revise these guidelines before the IDPH approved interscholastic athletic activities.

Elmwood Park District 401 will not conduct summer athletic camps without guidance and approval from the IDPH and the IHSA.

Therefore, summer camps for elementary-aged and middle school-aged students are canceled for the 2020 summer.

If the IDPH approves IHSA-revised guidelines, the high school athletic camps may go forward in July with District 401 approval.

Information regarding the dates and times of camps will follow if and when approved.
