Introducing the New Leaders of EPHS

As Elmwood Park High School prepares to welcome students for the 2026-27 school year, the building is also welcoming new members to its leadership team!

Joining the team are Principal Megan VerVynck, Assistant Principal John Pomagier, and Assistant Principal for Athletics and Activities Thomas Lentine. Together, they bring decades of experience in education, leadership, and student support, along with a shared commitment to helping every Tiger succeed.

"I genuinely enjoy getting to know people and building relationships," said Assistant Principal John Pomagier. "One of the most rewarding parts of working in education is connecting with students, staff, and families. I believe that strong relationships create a positive school culture, so you'll often find me out in the hallways, attending school events, or simply checking in with others."

Megan VerVynck, Principal

Ms. Megan VerVynck begins her first year leading Elmwood Park High School and her 19th year in education. She was drawn to EPHS because of its strong sense of community and the opportunity to support students throughout a unit school district. VerVynck loves that every day in education brings something new, and she's excited to continue building relationships with students, staff, and families.

John Pomagier, Assistant Principal

Mr. John Pomagier joins EPHS after serving as Assistant Principal at Unity Junior High School in Cicero School District 99. Now in his 16th year in education, he chose the profession to give back to the educators who helped shape his own life. Before education, he managed a landscaping company, coached multiple sports, and even ran YMCA summer camps for preschoolers. 

Fun fact: When he's relaxing at home, some of his guilty pleasure TV favorites include “America's Got Talent,” “Chicago P.D.,” and “Shark Tank.”

Thomas Lentine, Assistant Principal for Athletics and Activities

A familiar face, Mr. Tom Lentine returns to EPHS with 32 years of experience in education after previously serving as the school’s in-school suspension supervisor. He says the most rewarding part of education has been helping students discover their abilities and create opportunities through athletics. Outside of school, Lentine is a dedicated softball player who was inducted into the 16-inch Hall of Fame and still plays seven days a week. He's also a fan of classic Western movies.

The new EPHS leadership team is looking forward to welcoming students back and helping make the 2026-27 school year a successful one!
