EPHS holds successful voting drive - registers 30+ students

There are 33 new registered voters at Elmwood Park High School thanks to a voting drive put on in collaboration with Action Ridge. The organization also provided voting information to students who were unable to register at the time. 

This is the first voter registration drive held at EPHS since 2019 and the positive turnout was aided by staff who allowed their students to go down and register during class. While the social studies department was the main driving force behind this event, teachers from other departments encouraged their students to register as well. 

“It took it from being a social studies thing to being a community event, which I think is kind of cool,” said O’Mahoney.

The workers stayed at their table from the start of the school day until 3 PM, just after students were released for the day. 

If you (or your student) missed the chance to register, please go to the Secretary of State so your voice can be heard this fall. U.S. citizens who turn 18 by Nov. 5 of this year are eligible to vote in this year’s election. EPHS will hold another registration drive shortly before the Nov. 5 election.
