Thank to all those who attended our Open House yesterday. We have had a great start to the year and it was great to see you all! Attached below is the presentation we shared, if you missed it.
We recently held assemblies for all K-5 students to review our building expectations. Students were taught the expectation to be Responsible, Respectful, and Safe and were taught our school song. Ask your student if he/she remembers it and use it as a fun way to learn it together. Each of our monthly assemblies will begin with singing our school song and we want all students to participate.
Last week we partnered with the PTA and co-sponsored an Ice Cream Social on September 7th. The turnout was awesome, and it was nice to see students and families interacting with each other. You can expect more of these events throughout the school year.
Next week, students will take a MAP Growth Test in reading and math from NWEA on their Chromebooks. These tests will provide teachers with immediate information about your student and where he/she is generally ready for instruction. Teachers will use the results from reading and math tests to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students. The teachers and administrators will use this data to make informed decisions to improve student learning.
We have a planned fire drill on Monday, September 18th. Please let your student(s) know this is a planned drill and we do these to practice our safety procedures in the event of a real fire.
If you have not done so already, you are encouraged to complete and submit the online application for free/reduced lunch. The application can be found here and must submitted every year.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for all of your continued support.

PTA 2023-2024
Meals
Starting with the 2023-2024 SY, D401 contracted with a new food vendor: Quest Food Management Services. We chose to break from our long-standing agreement with the previous food provider because Quest Food promised to provide increased meal variety and higher food quality at a relatively similar price as the previous provider.
With this change, meal prices increased by $0.25 this year. All lunches K-8 are $3.00 per meal and the HS meal prices are $3.25.
Last week, Quest Food Management made a slight accounting error and accidentally charged all district families $3.25 for each meal. This has been corrected and the district will work with Quest Foods to properly credit all K-8 accounts that were affected.
For more information about your student's meals and Quest Food, please visit our Meals website.
