Schools

Our five public schools provide a comprehensive education to more than 2,800 students in grades pre-K through 12.

District 401 serves the residents of Elmwood Park, Ill., a Near West suburb of Chicago with a population of approximately 24,000. All students must be residents of Elmwood Park.

Changes in 2020-21

Please note that one of our schools, the Early Childhood Center, will close after the 2019-20 school year.

Beginning in August 2020, students in kindergarten will attend one of our two elementary schools: Elmwood (for residents living south of the railroad tracks) or John Mills (for residents north of the tracks).

All preschool students in District 401 will attend John Mills.

Also beginning in August 2020, Elm Middle School will include grade 6 in addition to grades 7-8. Elmwood and John Mills will no longer include 6th grade.
